Recognising that grassroot NGOs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the lack of service delivery and development, the Amrut Foundation strives to assist organisations with a credible track record in helping the most vulnerable in local communities. As a part of this effort, Amrut was glad to step in and assist the Children of Light Educare (COLT), in their effort to provide a wholistic, free and quality education to the children of Athlone, Cape Town. To help ensure that the Early Childhood Development Program reaches its full potential in educating the children, the Amrut Foundation was able to upgrade the facility by renovating the bathroom and kitchen facilities and constructing a functional learning area on the facility premises. Whilst these renovations have assisted COLT in remaining within the ambit of the Municipal guidelines, Amrut hopes to further extend assistance to the organisation in the near future.
