In the aftermath of the floods that wreaked havoc upon the lives of thousands of citizens in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province, the Amrut Foundation was able to support communities worst affected by the floods by providing food hampers and safe drinking water. With the assistance of trusted NGOs Hope SA, BAPS Charities and Township Yogi, the Foundation was able to distribute 1.1 tonnes of pulses, 3.4 tonnes of rice, 12.8 tonnes of pasta and 45 000 litres of bottled water. As part of this effort, NGO partner Food For Life Africa was also instrumental in the distribution of 85 000 hot meals, with provisions provided by the Foundation.
Whilst the KZN province has begun to wear a garb of normalcy once again, the Amrut Foundation is working on the ground with trusted NGOs and community leaders to address the long-term health, social and economic needs of those whose access to shelter, safe drinking water and a stable livelihood has been disrupted.
